Commissioner's Thoughts:
Tom Brady Draft Award: I really went back on forth on this one. I ended up going with Darnell Mooney as this year's award winner because Mooney was being slept on. He'd gotten to the point of being written off by a lot of people, which is why he fell to the 12th. He's been so consistent this year and will be a borderline top 12 WR by the end of the season. The kind of guy you throw in your lineup and only move for the bye week. Honorable Mentions: JK Dobbins and Baker Mayfield.
Kurt Warner UDFA Award: There wasn't a smash hit on this one this year as far as I can tell. Last year Puka was the obvious choice. This year there were a couple contenders. Ultimately I ended up going with Bucky Irving and a big reason for that was the fact that I don't think anyone expected him to contribute as much or as consistently as he did. Honorable mentions: Jujuan Jennings, Sam Darnold.
Boone-Yost Manager of the Year: Congrats to Bill again. Bill has been grinding out years in the Draft Control bracket and really broke out this season. He clearly took some lumps with FAAB this year and played his fake money smarter this season. From the basement potentially to the penthouse! Honorable mention: Jim, strictly for his move for Jayden Daniels. The last couple seasons have been tough for Jim, but I believe this is the kind of move that can turn a franchise around.Â
Some explanation on the 3 Commissioner's Awards: Draft pick of the year: QB is a position that can be waited on in a 1QB league, but its very rare that you manage to snag a top 6 QB in the 15th round. Honorable mention goes to Mike Evans, round 5, Nico Collins in Round 13 and Sam LaPorta in Round 12.
UDFA Award: Puka was an easy choice here. He had one of the greatest rookie seasons for a WR ever. Honorable mention goes to CJ Stroud. CJ Stroud is likely to win the NFL ROY, and he led an incredible turnaround for the Houston Texans. Much like the Packers they are miles ahead of the rebuild/retooling schedule.
Manager of the year: I know, I know. Manager of the year to the champion seems like the chalk pick and it is. However Chris had an incredible year. Obviously having the #1 Runningback in fantasy goes a long way, but that's not where the skill stopped. Sam LaPorta was TE 1 as a rookie, drafted by Chris. He overcame Austin Ekeler's falling off of the cliff. He also took advantage of Adam Thielen's early season hot streak. Chris also had a risky huge bid of $75 on Jerome Ford which paid off in a big way as Ford had a 25 point outburst in championship week. Honorable mentions: Bill and his late season hot streak, Ben for his dominant regular season and scoring title and Sam for his near midnight miracle to sneak into the championship game.
