Apologies, my original plan was to have this done earlier this week but clearly it wasn't done earlier this week. So let's lock in and give everyone something to read as the first round of the postseason comes to a close
Josh Allen(Joe Buck Yourself) had an incredible SEWIFFL season: 310.02 fantasy points. 3083 Passing Yards, 22 TDs, 10 INT and added 487 rushing yards with 12 rushing TDs! The safe floor and sky high ceiling made this a runaway contest.
Honorable mentions: Patrick Mahomes, Big Nix Energy, 272.12. Jalen Hurts, Pinche Bendejo, 247.86.
Jahmyr Gibbs(The Salty Spitoon) took what was a split backfield and turned it into a clear top dog with a great backup situation. Gibbs had 292.7 points this SEWIFFL season. He totaled 1107 rush yards, 14 rushing TDs and tacked on 60 catches for 500 yards and 3 TDs for the icing on the cake.
Honorable Mentions: Jonathan Taylor, Powderhoundmals, 291.7. Christian McCaffrey, The Bearded Clams, 286.0.
Jaxson Smith-Njigba(Bart Was The Best) made notice to the entire league. He is elite. JSN had 242.9 points. 89 Catches, 1428 yards and 9 TDs. Huge volume, but also huge production with sometimes questionable QB play.
Honorable Mention: Puka Nacua, Joe Buck Yourself, 212.4. George Pickens, Powderhoundmals, 206.9
Trey McBride(Pack Attack) was one of the only bright spots during a rough Cardinals season. He ended up with 188.2 fantasy points on 93 catches for 937 yards and 8 TDs. He didn't miss a beat when the Cardinals transitioned away from Kyler Murray to Jacoby Brissett.
Honorable Mentions: Travis Kelce, Pinche Bendejo, 136.8. Tyler Warren, Joe Buck Yourself, 130.7. Tucker Kraft, Big Nix Energy, 101.2(8 games)
This award highlights managerial decision making and flexibility(get it) to match that of Backyard Sports legend Pablo Sanchez. This year Sam didn't have many decisions to make, his quadfecta of starter quality RB make his FLEX decisions pretty easy. Most of the time it included at least one of Kyren Williams and Travis Etienne. Sam finished with a dominant 342.8 points from FLEX.
Honorable Mention: Bart Was The Best, 326.0. Muddy Bananas, 295.8
This was an interesting award. I expected the winner to be someone that had a dominant defense locked in most of the year. It turns out just the opposite happened. Zach streamed defenses most of the season, starting 9 different D/ST. His top contributor was Kansas City with 30 points and Seattle with 29 points.
Now we're going to get into the commissioner's awards. I did a bit more math-ing to figure these out, but there's still no perfect way of doing a regular season award.
This is never an easy award to give. Do you give it to the top overall scorer? Does position matter? What round should you really start considering things? This season the Tom Brady Award goes to Chris from Peeping Thomas for his 10th round(10.11) pick of New England QB Drake Maye. What really caught my eye was the fact that every other SEWIFFL team had at least 1 QB at this point. Much like Tom Brady, everyone passed on Drake Maye, but hopefully Drake Maye will get over it within 20 years unlike Tom. Drake Maye finished QB #3, overall #5, 238.6 points, 3130 yards, 21 TDs to just 6 INTs and added 307 yards and 2 TDs on the ground.
This one is always really tough to judge because there's no good way to have a list of who wasn't drafted. Wan'Dale Robinson started 10 games for Big Nix Energy, totaling 92.3 fantasy points, 53 catches and 536 yards and 2 TDs. I think this may very well have been a down year for undrafted players? Or we drafted really well as a whole. Feel free to scold me with your better options for this award, but this one officially goes to James!
I'd been mulling this one over for a while now and in my mind it came down to two managers: James, Big Nix Energy and George of Powderhoundmals. Both teams had been in a playoff drought over recent seasons. The deciding factor came down to managerial moves made and adversity overcome. That tilted the scales in favor of James. He was involved in 32 different moves, including 2 trades. The first ever off-season trade and an in season trade after Tucker Kraft's unfortunate injury. Key moves include: signing Kareem Hunt, signing Michael Wilson and trading for Sam LaPorta. These moves led to a a 5th seed in the Superb Owl Playoffs.
A new award! I didn't realize until now that we didn't have an MVP award. I did do some math in searching for the winner of this award(namely, finding out the Value over Replacement per game for MVP contenders.) Obviously there's a story factor that plays in too. Jonathan Taylor is the 2025 SEWIFFL MVP. Taylor led the Powderhoundmals to the first playoff appearance in years, which is one of the main factors that led to the winning nod for JTTD. While he was a set and forget player, Powderhoundmals still had decisions to make each week to compliment Taylor's big numbers. Congrats to George and to Jonathan Taylor!
Honorable Mentions: Jahmyr Gibbs, The Salty Spitoon. Josh Allen, Joe Buck Yourself.
There you have it. Congrats to the winners and to everyone on another amazing season! Best of luck to those still alive in the playoffs.
