I genuinely wish I enjoyed playing fantasy sports with sports other than football. The season is gone in the blink of an eye and now we've got nothing but a Packers #7 seed and torn ligaments to look forward to until the draft. I'll pretend to care about March Madness when that comes around, but I haven't watched a single point of college hoops in years. The Brewers will bring me a bit of hope, but deep in my soul I know they're gonna win the divison and then shatter our my heart again in the playoffs. And then we'll be back here again, in 2026, writing and reading silly articles, debating which rookie TE we should take a 15th round flyer on, and being fill again, with the hope of a Superb Owl title. For the last time in 2025, grab your new Christmas gift, tuck in with a mug of cocoa, and wipe your tears away, its time for the Write Up.
Another absolute barn burner championship in the rematch from last season. And for a second straight year Bijan Robinson ended Joe Buck Yourself's Superb Owl championship hopes on national TV. To be blunt Sam had no faith that he'd win this matchup to the point that he had me take possession of the trophy Sunday evening after our family Christmas. I'm not sure there's a single decision you can point to from Joe Buck Yourself and blame the loss on. Its easy to say "well you should've started Brock Purdy, he had 36 points!" I'm not sure there's a fantasy football manager in all of fantasyland that would have had the stones, and arguably lack of brains, to make that decision. Chase Brown continued the hot streak he's been on since Week 8, Ja'Marr Chase found the endzone twice, Mike Evans and Jauan Jennings once each. Puka was held largely in check by the Falcons in an incredible Monday Night Football game. Overall a fantastic game of fantasy football was played by Joe Buck Yourself.
The Trash Pandas quadfecta of RBs nearly let them down this week. TreVeyon Henderson and Travis Etienne were both just ok at best, finishing with 18 combined points. As you all saw Bijan Robinson was the one putting the seal on the victory, with a huge 195 rushing yard performance, with 2 total TDs, totalling 37.4 points. Kyren Williams was solid as well, 14.5 points from the Rams RB. If I'm going to point at what really won the game for the Pandas its the free agency moves that were made this week due to injury. Sam added Parker Washington on the 23rd. Washington had 8 catches for 115 yards for 15 fantasy points and he had a Christmas Eve pickup of Juwan Johnson who set a career high for receiving yards, finishing 4 for 95 and 11.5 fantasy points. Johnson was a move that was needed as Brock Bowers was put on IR last week.
A congrats to both Trash Pandas and Joe Buck Yourself. Both have established themselves as the elite of SEWIFFL. Joe Buck Yourself is on a Buffalo Bills esque run in recent years, making it all the way to the top of the mountain, only to be knocked right back down in the Championship match. The Trash Pandas etch yet another championship and continue a dominant career in SEWIFFL. Their 2nd straight title, 5th overall in the 11 years the league has existed. Another gold nameplate will be added to the Superb Owl Trophy in honor of yet another championship from Trash Pandas.
The Minnesota Vikings defense really won this game for The Hounds. In a very ballsy move they were started against a high powered Lions offense and it worked out in spades. They had 23 points, including 6 turnovers. Powderhoundmals took home 3rd place despite double goose eggs from Taysom Hill and Marvin Harrison Jr. It wasn't a perfect lineup, but it was one that did enough to win. On the losing side it was a pretty simple story, the RB duo from the Lions sucked. 10.4 combined points from Sonic and Knuckles who left fantasy owners everyone scrambling to pick up lost rings. Congrats to Powderhoundmals owner/manager George on his best career SEWIFFL finish!
The losing side got big games out of the starting RB duo of Christian McCaffrey and Bill Croskey-Merritt and that's about it. 6 of their starters had 6 or less fantasy points. I don't care who you are, that's a recipe for a loss. Muddy Bananas just overpowered the Clams, led by Trevor Lawrence with 23 points, Chris Godwin with 20 points, and Colston Loveland with 18.4 points. The Muddy Bananas will have their pick of draft position for the 2026 season. Congrats!

Thank you all for another fantastic fantasy football season. I'm planning on continuing my record/stats/excel project with years going back to the FleaFlicker era. In time that will lead to some more robust record keeping on the website and a better track of what the true records for this league are. Its tedious, but I enjoy it. I might try to find a way to use Sleeper's API to spill stats automatically at some point, but that's a pipe dream as of now. Once those projects are done and the site is updated I'll let everyone know. I sincerely hope that regardless of your league ranking that you had a good time playing in this league and continue to do so. 11 years strong and hopefully another 50 in our future.
For those who have your 2026 planners out, we're gonna look at two options for draft day: August 23rd or September 5th/6th(Labor Day Weekend). I lean 8/23 because people tend to have Labor Day Weekend plans that don't include sitting at a PC for 2.5 hours.
We may have a couple of dominant teams, but teams like Powderhoundmals making a real run this year should prove to everyone that fantasy football can turn around in a short amount of time. On that note I'll leave you with this from TS Eliot: “What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning.”
